SXSW Day 2: Music, Micheladas, and More!

SEE IT
Thursday, early afternoon, I headed to Mohawk to see Glasvegas perform on the packed and steamy patio. After stopping at the photo booth to get my picture taken, I wandered around 6th St. for a bit, then stopped back in South Austin for a quick nap. Refreshed and full of breakfast tacos (for dinner), I walked over to South Congress St., where the South by San Jose event is taking place. There, I saw longtime local favorite Billy Joe Shaver and tried my first Michelada (Modelo mixed with soy sauce, Worcestershire, Tabasco and lime juice). Then I hopped on a bus back to the downtown area, where Brooklyn outfit The Bloodsugars riled up the crowd at Rusty Spurs, and, later in the evening, Drink Up Buttercup did the same. In between sets, I had time to check out the incredibly costumed Ebony Bones at Aces Lounge and the soul-pumping King Khan and the Shrines at El Sol de la Luna. All in all, a very fulfilling day.
