Yeah Yeah Yeahs: It’ll Never Be 2003 Again

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ third LP comes out this April on Interscope, titled, It’s Blitz. Fabelhaft! The Yeahs tell Spin.com that Giorgio Moroder inspired them to go Donna Summers on us and you will likely hear synths doing the jobs of guitars. And Karen O still loves to dance, despite rumors that she’s grown up.

RollingStone.com subtitles an article about the Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Goth, Nerd, Slut.” But the YYYs of the last couple years instead have been “professional who people tell him he looks like Nick Cave, professional who used to play in Long Island noise bands, professional who used to not put so much reverb on her vocals.” Oh boo hoo hoo. The YYYs have gone pro, and why shouldn’t they have? If you want your hipster IT band to survive this long, especially in New York, you’re going to have to go to bed early eventually.

The YYY’s sounds of sweaty shirt bedlam, as heard on their self-titled debut EP and Fever To Tell, may have passed on like a prosperous economy. And on stage, Karen O may now be Karen Orzolek. But don’t worry. The recession may have no end in sight, but social and economic strife will engender new art. And soon the rest of It’s Blitz will leak on to Soulseek.

If you live near Indio, CA, you can catch the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Coachella on April 19th before they head off to Europe!
